Women's Basketball Extend Win Streak to Five

In an electrifying showdown between Chesapeake College and Howard Community College, the game kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer. Chesapeake managed to edge out the competition with a hard-fought 64-57 victory, exhibiting strength and dominant performances throughout the game.
The game was a battle of wills, with both teams exchanging leads and intense defensive plays. Chesapeake's offense was led by standout performances from Gabrielle Corbin (Salisbury, MD/Salisbury), Lourden Banks (Accokeek, MD/St. Mary's Ryken) and Asia Taylor (Philadelphia, PA/Imhotep Institute).  Corbin was unstoppable offensively, pouring in 21 points on an effective 7-of-13 shooting from the field and a 6-of-10 shooting from the free-throw line. Corbin led the team with 16 rebounds, reinforcing the team's drive for this win. Her leadership and scoring ability kept Chesapeake in the hunt during crucial moments.
Lourden Banks also made a significant impact, contributing 15 points, along with 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 4 assists. Banks's versatility and playmaking ability helped Chesapeake maintain offensive momentum. Asia Taylor provided a spark off the bench, tallying 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting, including 2 three-pointers, and adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Her energy and timely baskets helped Chesapeake secure key possessions down the stretch.
Defensively, Chesapeake's players stepped up, with notable contributions from Shenell White (Deltona, FL/Deltona) and Ty'Aishah Moody (Easton, MD/Easton). White's forceful defense and Moody's effort on both ends kept the pressure on Howard throughout the game. 
Howard Community College fought hard, but Chesapeake's balanced attack and clutch free-throw shooting—19 of 27 from the line—ultimately proved power over Howard. Chesapeake finished the game shooting 34.4% from the field and 13.6% from three-point range, but their free-throw accuracy and aggressive defense sealed the win.
