Bio
Damon Nichols Sr., a life-long resident of Caroline County, graduated from North Caroline High School in 1995. He played varsity football, basketball and track for four years at NCHS. After graduating from North Caroline, he continued his education at Chesapeake College where he also played basketball. In 1997, Nichols returned to North Caroline High School to coach junior varsity football and basketball, with junior varsity basketball recording two undefeated seasons while he coached with the program.
In 2000, Nichols became the varsity assistant football coach/running back coach. The same year he was named assistant varsity basketball coach where he remained for eight years. In 2008, he became the assistant men’s basketball coach at Chesapeake College under John Mappas, helping the Skipjacks to a Region XX championship in his first season.
In 2012 Coach Nichols was District K coach of the year and lead his team to a Maryland Juco Championship & Region 20 Championship which earned them a trip to East Peoria, Illinois to Nationals where the Skipjacks placed 7th in the nation. Coach Nichols gives his team all the credit for the hard work and effort.
Nichols was hired by the Skipjacks to serve as head women’s basketball coach in 2009 and is currently in his third season in that position.
Nichols has been employed by Caroline County Public Schools for the past 14 years. He is a recent graduate of Belford University, with a B.A. in Education Administration and is currently working towards his master’s degree.
Nichols resides in Caroline County with his wife, Letitia, and son Damon Jr.
